About this tool

This free days-until calculator (also called a day counter or date countdown) tells you exactly how many days remain until any future date. People use it to count down to birthdays, weddings, exam dates, project deadlines, retirement, vacations, race day, concert tickets going on sale, or the next big holiday. Because the count is based on calendar days at your local midnight, the answer always matches what you would get by counting squares on a wall calendar β€” daylight-saving changes never throw it off by a day.

Beyond the headline number, the calculator breaks the wait down into full weeks, an exact calendar span in years, months and days, and the number of weekdays versus weekend days β€” handy for estimating how many working days you have left before a deadline. Everything runs locally in your browser: no account, no server, and the date you enter is never sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Does the count include today or the target date?

The count is the number of midnights between now and your date: today is not counted, the target date is. So if your event is tomorrow, the answer is 1 day; if it is today, the answer is 0 and the tool tells you it's today.

What happens if I pick a date in the past?

The calculator flips into "days ago" mode and shows how many days have passed since that date, with the same weeks, months and weekday breakdown. It's an easy way to check how long ago something happened.

How are weekdays and weekend days counted?

Every calendar day strictly after today up to and including the target date is classified as a weekday (Monday–Friday) or a weekend day (Saturday–Sunday). Public holidays are not excluded, since they differ by country.

Is the countdown affected by time zones or daylight saving?

No. The day count uses your device's local calendar, and the live timer counts to midnight local time at the start of your target date. Daylight-saving transitions are handled automatically, so the day count never drifts.
