How to use the Working Days Calculator
- Pick your dates. Choose a start date and an end date. The number of working days between them appears instantly and updates as you change anything.
- Adjust the work week. Monday to Friday is pre-selected. Tick or untick days to match your schedule — for example Sunday–Thursday work weeks, or a six-day retail week.
- Add holidays. Optionally list public holidays or company days off, one date per line (YYYY-MM-DD). Each holiday that lands on a working day inside the range is subtracted from the total.
About this tool
This business days calculator counts how many working days fall between two dates — essential for payroll periods, invoice payment terms like "net 30 business days", statutory notice periods, project planning, shipping estimates and leave requests. Weekend days are skipped automatically based on the work week you select, and you can paste in your country's public holidays so bank holidays are excluded too. The result also shows the total calendar days, weekend days and how many of your holidays actually reduced the count.
The calculator handles ranges from a single day to many years and lets you choose whether the end date itself is counted, matching either the "inclusive" convention used for durations or the "exclusive" convention used for deadlines. As with every 123Tool utility, the math happens locally in your browser — no dates or holiday lists are ever sent to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Are the start and end dates included in the count?
The start date is always included when it falls on a working day. The end date is included by default; untick "Include the end date" to count up to, but not including, the end date — useful for deadline-style calculations such as "10 business days before".
How are holidays handled?
Enter one date per line in YYYY-MM-DD format. A holiday reduces the working-day total only if it lies within the selected range and falls on a day you marked as working. Holidays on weekends, outside the range, or listed twice never subtract more than once, and lines that cannot be parsed are reported and skipped.
Can I use a work week other than Monday–Friday?
Yes. Tick exactly the days that count as working days. For instance, select Sunday–Thursday for countries where the weekend is Friday–Saturday, or add Saturday for a six-day work week — the calculator adapts immediately.
What is the difference between working days and calendar days?
Calendar days count every day in the range, including weekends and holidays. Working days (business days) count only the days on which work normally happens. Thirty calendar days is usually about 22 working days under a Monday–Friday week, before subtracting holidays.
