What opacity should I use for a watermark?

For a visible but unobtrusive watermark, 30–60% opacity works well; the default of 50% suits most photos. Use higher opacity (70%+) with tile mode when the goal is protecting proofs, and lower opacity (15–30%) for subtle branding on portfolio images.

Can the watermark be removed later?

The watermark is flattened into the image pixels, so it cannot simply be switched off afterwards — that is what makes it useful for protection. Always keep your original file and export a separate watermarked copy for sharing, since this tool never modifies the uploaded original.

Which output format should I choose?

JPG gives the smallest files for photos, WebP compresses even better in modern browsers, and PNG is lossless and keeps transparency — pick PNG if your source image has transparent areas you want to preserve (JPG replaces transparency with white).

Does the watermark reduce my image quality or resolution?

No. The text is drawn onto the image at its full original pixel dimensions, and PNG output is completely lossless. If you choose JPG or WebP, quality is controlled by the quality slider — 90% is visually indistinguishable from the original for most photos.
