What happens to transparent areas of my PNG?
JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent and semi-transparent pixels must be flattened onto a solid color. Use the background color picker to choose that color — white suits most documents and product photos, while a color matching your website background makes logos blend in seamlessly.
Which quality setting should I choose?
80–95% is the sweet spot for most images: files get dramatically smaller with little visible change. Below about 70% you may notice blur and blocky artifacts, especially around text and sharp edges. If size barely matters, leave it at 90–100%.
Why convert PNG to JPG at all?
JPG compresses photographs far more efficiently than PNG, so files download faster, attach to emails more easily and fit under upload limits. Screenshots of photos, scans and camera exports are the best candidates; flat-color graphics with few colors are sometimes better left as PNG.
Can I convert several PNGs at once?
