About this tool
This free tool adds rounded corners to any picture and exports it as a transparent PNG or WebP, so the curves blend into whatever background you place the image on. Rounded corners instantly make screenshots, product shots, app icons and thumbnails look softer and more modern โ the same look you get from CSS border-radius, but baked into the file itself for use in emails, documents, presentations and platforms where CSS is not available. Circle mode center-crops your photo to a square and masks it into a perfect circle, the standard shape for profile pictures and team-page avatars.
The masking happens entirely in your browser on the HTML5 canvas: your image is never uploaded to any server, so private photos stay private. There are no watermarks, sign-ups or usage limits, and the output keeps the original resolution. If you need a smaller file afterwards, run the result through our Image Resizer or Image Compressor.
Frequently asked questions
How is the corner radius calculated?
The slider sets the radius as a percentage of the image's shorter side, and the pixel value is shown next to it. At 50% on a square image the corners meet and you get a full circle; on a rectangle you get a pill/stadium shape.
Why do I need a transparent background?
Without transparency the "cut off" corners would be filled with a solid color that only matches one background. A transparent PNG or WebP lets the rounded image sit cleanly on any color, gradient or photo behind it.
Can I save the result as JPG?
No โ JPG does not support transparency, so the corners would turn into solid squares. Use PNG (works everywhere) or WebP (smaller files, supported by all modern browsers). To decode or convert further, see Base64 to Image and our other image tools.
How do I make a circular profile picture?
Switch the shape to Circle. The tool center-crops your photo to a square and applies a circular mask, giving you a ready-to-upload round avatar at the largest size your photo allows.
