Which output format should I pick?
WAV is uncompressed, lossless and plays on virtually every device and editor, but it is large — roughly 10 MB per minute of stereo audio. The compressed option produces a far smaller WebM (Opus) or M4A (AAC) file, depending on what your browser's recorder supports, at a quality that is fine for speech and casual listening.
Can I save the audio as MP3?
Browsers do not ship a built-in MP3 encoder, so this tool cannot output MP3 directly. Save a WAV file and run it through any audio converter if you specifically need MP3 — though most apps, editors and platforms happily accept WAV, M4A and Opus audio.
Why did WAV extraction fail on my video?
The two usual reasons are that the video has no audio track at all, or that its audio codec cannot be decoded by your browser's audio decoder. In the second case, switch to the Compressed option — it captures audio through the normal playback pipeline instead, so it works with anything the player can play.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. Decoding, recording and encoding all run locally in your browser, so the tool also works offline once the page is loaded. Your video and the extracted audio never leave your device.
