About this tool
This free image flipper mirrors photos in one click. A horizontal flip is perfect for fixing mirrored selfies and webcam shots, reversing product photos, or preparing iron-on transfer designs that must be printed in mirror image. A vertical flip turns a picture upside down, which is handy for scanned documents and creative reflection effects. You can combine both directions, which is equivalent to rotating the image by 180 degrees โ if you need other angles, try the Rotate Image tool.
Flipping happens entirely in your browser using the HTML5 canvas: the file is never uploaded, so private photos stay on your device and the result appears instantly even for large images. The mirror operation itself is lossless โ every pixel is simply moved to its new position โ and choosing PNG output keeps the saved file lossless too.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between flipping and rotating?
Flipping mirrors the image across an axis, so text appears reversed after a horizontal flip. Rotating turns the whole image around its center and keeps text readable. Flipping both horizontally and vertically gives the same result as a 180ยฐ rotation.
Does flipping reduce image quality?
No. A flip only rearranges existing pixels, so no detail is lost. If you download as PNG the result is pixel-perfect; JPG and WebP apply their usual lossy compression, which you can control with the quality slider.
How do I un-mirror a selfie?
Front cameras often save a mirrored image. Upload the photo, click โ Horizontal (mirror) once, and download โ the picture will match what other people actually see.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The whole tool runs locally in your browser with JavaScript and the canvas element. Your image never leaves your device, and the tool even works offline once the page has loaded.
