How to change video speed online

About this tool
This free video speed changer speeds up or slows down any clip between 0.25× and 4× without installing an editor. Speed up screen recordings, lectures and tutorials to save watching time, create slow motion from sports and pet clips to study the action frame by frame, or turn a long process video into a quick timelapse-style clip. By default the audio is time-stretched with pitch preservation, so speech stays natural instead of sounding like a chipmunk or a slowed-down tape — untick the pitch option if you want that classic effect.
Everything runs locally in your browser using the HTML5 video, Web Audio and MediaRecorder APIs, so your video is never uploaded to a server and there are no watermarks, sign-ups or limits. Frequently asked questions
Does changing the speed also change the audio pitch?
Not by default. The tool keeps the original pitch while stretching or compressing the audio in time, so a 2× video still sounds like normal speech, just faster. Untick Keep original audio pitch if you prefer the classic tape effect where the pitch rises when speeding up and drops when slowing down.
Why does exporting take as long as the video plays?
The export is a real-time re-recording: the clip plays through once at the new speed while your browser captures it. A 4-minute video exported at 2× therefore takes about 2 minutes; the same video at 0.5× takes about 8 minutes. Keep the tab visible during export so the browser does not throttle the recording.
What format is the exported video?
MP4 where your browser's recorder supports it (recent Chrome, Edge and Safari), otherwise WebM — the download name matches the actual format. Some players show an unknown duration for freshly recorded WebM files until playback starts; the file itself is fine.
Is there a limit on video length or size?
There is no fixed limit, but because the whole recording is held in browser memory, the tool works best with clips up to roughly 10–15 minutes. Since nothing is uploaded, processing speed depends only on your device, not your internet connection.
